Embrace have unveiled their latest single, Up In Your Feelings, ahead of the release of their forthcoming album Avalanche.
The track arrives just weeks before the band’s ninth studio album lands on 12 June via Cooking Vinyl and offers another preview of a record that explores themes of vulnerability, acceptance and emotional contradiction.
Opening with atmospheric keyboards and driving guitars, “Up In Your Feelings” examines the lingering obsession and emotional fixation that can follow the breakdown of a relationship.
Embrace call Up In Your Feelings one of the album’s darkest songs
Frontman Danny McNamara described the song as one of the darkest moments on Avalanche, focusing on the cycle of replaying painful memories long after a relationship has ended.
“It captures the obsessive aftermath of a broken relationship where a person replays memories over and over despite the pain.”
Musically, the band deliberately avoided an overly polished studio sound, instead favouring a more human and imperfect approach that reflects the emotional honesty of the lyrics.
The result is a track that balances intensity and vulnerability, combining Embrace’s trademark melodic songwriting with a darker edge.
Avalanche explores joy, fragility and life’s contradictions
“Up In Your Feelings” follows the release of earlier singles Road To Nowhere and Stop, both of which helped build anticipation for the new album.
According to McNamara, Avalanche is built around the idea that happiness is often found in small moments rather than major achievements.
The album explores themes including resilience, uncertainty, emotional fragility and the contradictions of everyday life, with the band choosing to ask questions rather than offer easy answers.
The release marks Embrace’s first studio album since 2022’s How To Be A Person Like Other People.
Embrace celebrate 30 years with new music, book and tour
More than three decades after forming, Embrace remain one of Britain’s most enduring alternative rock bands, having sold over two million albums worldwide.
To mark their 30th anniversary, the five-piece have planned a packed schedule that includes a spoken-word theatre tour, a new book and an extensive run of live performances.
A series of intimate album release shows will take place in Kingston upon Thames, Oxford and Liverpool following the album’s release.
The band will also perform a special 60-minute set at Odsal Stadium on 14 June ahead of a Bradford Bulls fixture.
UK anniversary tour to conclude at London Roundhouse
The Odsal performance follows a sold-out headline show at The Piece Hall and serves as a warm-up for Embrace’s major UK anniversary tour later this year.
The nationwide run culminates with a landmark headline show at Roundhouse in November.
