Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have extended their record-breaking run at the top of the UK Singles Chart, with “Rein Me In” spending a 20th week at No. 1 on the chart published on 7 August 2026.
The achievement comes just one week after the song became the longest-running No. 1 single in UK chart history, surpassing a record held by Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” for 73 years.
‘Rein Me In’ becomes first song to spend 20 weeks at no. 1
“Rein Me In” made history on 31 July when its 19th non-consecutive week at No. 1 took it beyond the previous record of 18 weeks set by Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” in 1953.
The Sam Fender and Olivia Dean collaboration has now gone one step further, becoming the first song in UK chart history to spend 20 weeks at the top.
The track also increased its weekly consumption by 4.52%, reaching 46,486 chart units.
That total consisted of one 7-inch single, 2,582 digital downloads and 43,903 sales-equivalent streams.

The latest result gives “Rein Me In” another week ahead of the rest of the UK singles market after its record-breaking 19th week was confirmed at the end of July.
The song’s extended run has also followed a major year for both artists.
Fender and Dean performed “Rein Me In” at the BRIT Awards 2026 in Manchester, where both artists were also recognised with the Song of the Year award.
The track has subsequently become one of the defining UK chart stories of 2026.

The collaboration also reached North American audiences for the first time during Olivia Dean’s headline set at Lollapalooza on 1 August 2026.
Dean brought Fender onto the stage to perform “Rein Me In”, marking the song’s first live performance in North America.
Frankie Laine’s 73-year record has finally been broken
Before “Rein Me In”, Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” held the record for the most weeks at No. 1 in UK chart history.
The song spent 18 weeks at the summit in 1953, a record that stood for more than seven decades.
Fender and Dean initially matched and then surpassed that mark with their 19th week at No. 1. The latest chart result has now pushed the record to 20 weeks.
