Miley Cyrus has celebrated her first Billboard 200 Number 1 album in more than a decade after Bass Persuades debuted at the top of the US albums chart. The singer’s 10th studio album, released on 18 September, reached Number 1 ahead of Ella Langley‘s Dandelion and Riley Green’s That’s Just Me.
Cyrus last topped the Billboard 200 with Bangerz in 2013, making Bass Persuades her first album to reach the summit since the record that included hits such as “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop”.

Following the chart news, Cyrus shared her reaction on Instagram, describing the achievement as something bigger than simply securing the top position.
“Bass Persuades being #1 transcends a win. This process has been some of the best times for me. Everyone involved made it possible and more importantly fun and memorable.”
The 33-year-old singer also posted photographs of herself with a bouquet of roses arranged in the shape of a number one, which was sent by executives at Atlantic Records.
Cyrus thanked the people involved in the album before turning her attention to the fans who have supported her career.
“Thank you Atlantic, my team, and everyone who walks beside me with conviction. I love you.”
She added:
“To the fans you make my world go round. Making music for you brings immeasurable joy to my life. Forever.”

Bass Persuades arrived on 18 September, featuring the title track alongside the single “Let’s Get Married”.
Before its release, Cyrus explained that the album’s title was connected to the emotional and physical impact music can have on people.
“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me.”
The Number 1 debut gives Cyrus another major milestone in a career that began when she was a child and has since moved across pop, rock and country-influenced music.
With Bass Persuades, she returns to the top of the Billboard 200 for the first time since Bangerz more than 10 years ago.
