BTS member V has revealed he has been experiencing hearing loss in his right ear for around two and a half years. The singer, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, discussed the issue during a Weverse livestream on August 12 as the group continues its ARIRANG world tour.
V said his right ear currently has significantly reduced hearing compared with his left.
“If the hearing in my left ear is at 100, it’s only about 30 in my right.”
He said the problem worsened while he was completing his mandatory military service in South Korea. After initially trying to dismiss it, V sought medical help and is now taking medication and regularly attending hospital appointments.
Jungkook reveals shin injury
During the same livestream, Jungkook revealed that he is also managing an injury while on tour.
The singer said inflammation and suspected microdamage to his shin have affected his ability to perform, forcing him to sit during some concerts.
“It hasn’t reached a stress fracture yet, but there’s a lot of inflammation in my shin and I think there’s some microdamage to the bone. I’ll be careful with myself so I can finish this tour properly.”
BTS’ ARIRANG world tour is scheduled to continue through North America before moving to Latin America, Asia and Australia. The tour is due to conclude at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan on March 16, 2027.
All seven BTS members have now completed their mandatory South Korean military service.
