Calum Scott has been officially honoured with a BRIT Billion Award, marking a major milestone of over one billion career streams in the UK.
The Hull-born singer-songwriter was surprised with the award by his mother, Debbie Scott, during a visit to Universal Music Group’s headquarters in London.
Launched in 2023 by the BPI, the BRIT Billion Award celebrates artists who surpass one billion UK streams across their catalogue. Calum Scott now joins a select group of more than 40 acts to receive the recognition, alongside the likes of:
- ABBA
- Anne-Marie
- AJ Tracey
- Billie Eilish
- Camila Cabello
- Coldplay
- Ellie Goulding
- George Ezra
- Headie One
- Lewis Capaldi
- Mariah Carey
- Olivia Rodrigo
- Queen
- Raye
- Rita Ora
- Rolling Stones
- Sam Smith
- Whitney Houston
Among Scott’s most-streamed tracks in the UK, his breakout cover of Dancing On My Own leads the way with 330 million plays, followed by You Are The Reason with 260 million.
“It’s an absolute honour to receive the BRIT Billion Award,” said Scott. “To be recognised and sit alongside such incredible artists that I grew up listening to feels very surreal – to have it presented by my mum, who has been the biggest supporter in my career, made it even more special. I’m so grateful to all my fans and everyone who has been with me since the beginning and I’m excited to see everyone on tour later this year.”
The BRIT Billion Award highlights the growing impact of streaming on music consumption in the UK. In 2023 alone, the country logged over 180 billion audio streams, with streaming now accounting for around 85% of recorded music consumption. More than 2,000 artists each year generate over 10 million UK streams, while over 10,000 acts hit the one-million mark.
Calum Scott’s new album Avenoir is set for release on 12 September via EMI. He will hit the road later this year on The Avenoir Tour, with arena dates including London’s OVO Arena Wembley before heading to Europe and North America in 2026.
