Connie Francis Joins TikTok At 87 As “Pretty Little Baby” Becomes A Viral Sensation

More than six decades after its release, a long-overlooked Connie Francis track has gone viral on TikTok, racking up billions of views and catapulting the 87-year-old legend into a new digital spotlight.

Connie Francis, the groundbreaking American singer and actress who once dominated the Billboard charts, has officially joined TikTok to thank the platform’s global community for the viral success of her 1962 recording Pretty Little Baby. The track, which never charted as a single and was largely forgotten outside her fanbase, has now appeared in over 17 million TikTok videos, generating more than 27 billion views.

In her first video post, Francis appears genuinely moved. “Flabbergasted and excited” by the attention, she offered heartfelt thanks to the creators who have embraced her music, noting the joy of connecting with a younger generation she never expected to reach.

A hidden gem turned viral hit

Originally released as part of the album Connie Francis Sings Second Hand Love & Other Hits, Pretty Little Baby wasn’t even released as a single in the United States. It only saw light as a B-side in a handful of international markets including the UK, Norway and India.

But its lilting melody and romantic lyrics have struck a chord in 2025. TikTok users have used the song to soundtrack videos showing everything from vintage outfits to baby clips and pet montages. At one point, the track averaged over 600,000 daily video creations on the app.

Celebrities and creators including Kim Kardashian & North West, Kylie Jenner, Brook Monk, Jarred Jermaine, Abbie Herbert, and Ariana Greenblatt helped push the song further into the mainstream.

Its viral chorus —

“You can ask the flowers / I sit for hours / Telling all the bluebirds / The bill and coo birds / Pretty little baby, I’m so in love with you”
— has become a recurring audio trend on the app.

Chart performance and streaming milestones

The momentum on TikTok has spilled over into streaming. Since early April 2025:

  • Weekly streams of Pretty Little Baby in the US have jumped more than 20,000%, with over 4 million weekly plays.
  • The song entered the Spotify Viral 50 in more than 65 countries and reached No. 67 on the Global Top 100.
  • It hit No. 2 on Spotify’s Global Daily Viral Songs, and No. 5 on the US iTunes Pop Songs chart.
  • On the broader US iTunes Songs chart, it broke into the Top 10.

A legacy reintroduced to the world

Francis’ sudden revival underscores the unpredictable nature of modern music discovery. Tracy Gardner, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, said:

“The huge viral success of Pretty Little Baby is the perfect example of the power of music discovery on TikTok. Thanks to the TikTok community, this little-known track from the 1960s has been given a new lease of life and introduced Connie Francis and her incredible legacy to a whole new audience.”

That legacy is nothing short of historic. Francis was the first woman ever to top the Billboard Hot 100, with Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool in 1960. Over the course of her career, she sold more than 200 million records worldwide, with 53 songs charting on the Hot 100.

As executive producer David Resnikoff put it:

“A living legend and groundbreaking trailblazer… now at the age of 87 we are thrilled that she has her first ‘viral hit’.”

Global versions now streaming

To meet growing demand, a new compilation titled Pretty Little Baby – International Versions has been released digitally for the first time. It includes Francis’ rare 1962 foreign-language renditions of the song in:

  • French (La Seul Qui T’aime)
  • German (Alle Jungen Leute)
  • Italian (Baby)
  • Japanese (Kawaī Beibi)
  • Spanish (Linda Muchachita)
  • Swedish (Sjunger På Svenska)

This rollout gives global listeners a chance to rediscover not just the song, but the multi-lingual range that helped make Connie Francis a household name in Europe, Asia and Latin America throughout the 1960s.
