Cyndi Lauper confronted a heckler during the opening night of her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, delivering a blunt response mid-show that drew loud applause from the audience.
The incident took place as the singer launched Cyndi Lauper: Live in Las Vegas, a limited run scheduled to continue until 2 May. While introducing her song “Sally’s Pigeons”, Lauper was interrupted and responded immediately.
“I don’t know what the fuck you’re saying, hon,” Lauper said in a video from the show. “But please remember where you are, OK? Because if you’re trying to shade me, bitch, I’m gonna come for you.
“I’m from Brooklyn, and if I wanna fucking talk, I will do a tap dance if I fucking want. Sorry, that of course is not part of my people skills.”
The crowd reacted with cheers and applause, and Lauper continued the performance without further disruption.
Residency opens after farewell tour
The Las Vegas residency marks a new phase for Lauper following her 69-date Girls Just Want to Have Fun farewell tour, which concluded in August 2025. Although she previously signalled an intention to step back from large-scale touring, she has remained active on stage.
Recent appearances include a performance at the Hollywood Bowl, which was recorded for a television special celebrating her career.
Recent honours and career recognition
In November, Lauper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, recognising her influence across pop music, activism, and culture.
Her Las Vegas run continues to draw attention, combining career highlights with moments that underline her reputation for being unfiltered on stage.
