Duran Duran Release ‘Free To Love’ With Nile Rodgers Ahead Of BST Hyde Park Headline Show

Duran Duran & Nile Rodgers - Free To Love

Duran Duran have released their new single “Free To Love,” reuniting with longtime collaborator Nile Rodgers on a disco-influenced track.

The song arrives with an official video directed by Jonas Åkerlund and continues a creative partnership between the band and Rodgers that spans more than four decades.

Disco-influenced sound and new video

Free To Love” leans into an upbeat, dancefloor-driven sound, combining Duran Duran’s pop style with Rodgers’ signature funk and disco production.

The video features Clara Amfo, who introduces the band and Rodgers in a format inspired by classic music TV shows.

Band and Nile Rodgers on the new track

Frontman Simon Le Bon described the single as a modern take on disco:

“Free To Love is disco for the 2020s. It’s up-beat and up-tempo; it’s about freedom; it’s about loving the modern world instead of hating it, and that is something we need right now. Be free! Be free to love!”

Keyboardist Nick Rhodes added:

“Every time we plug in and play with Nile, the electricity he generates could light up a whole city… Free To Love is our call to all the people out there who want peace, hope and understanding to prevail.”

Rodgers said:

“True love is free and unconditional… Whatever chaos is going on outside, inside the studio we’re free to love our peace.”

A long-running creative partnership

Duran Duran first worked with Rodgers in 1984, when he remixed “The Reflex,” helping turn it into a global No.1. He later contributed to 1986’s Notorious and returned for multiple collaborations across the band’s catalogue, including Astronaut (2004), Paper Gods (2015) and Danse Macabre (2023).

The partnership has remained active through both studio releases and live performances.

BST Hyde Park headline show confirmed

The release of “Free To Love” comes ahead of Duran Duran’s headline appearance at BST Hyde Park in July 2026, where they will be joined by Scissor Sisters.
