Alt-rock icons Garbage have just dropped their scorching new single, “Get Out My Face AKA Bad Kitty,” the second release from their highly anticipated album Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, set to arrive on 30 May 2025.
With blistering guitars, snarling basslines, and Shirley Manson’s unmistakable fire, the track delivers a raw, rebellious punch. Layered with anti-patriarchal themes and delivered with snarling defiance, “Get Out My Face” is already being hailed as a feminist anthem for the modern era.
Shirley Manson speaks out on injustice and resilience
Speaking on the track’s message, frontwoman Shirley Manson shared:
“As I’ve grown older, I’ve seen how the game is rigged—especially against women, minorities, LGBTQ+ people, and marginalized communities. The rollback of women’s rights in the U.S. is nothing short of terrifying.”
The song’s quirky subtitle, “Bad Kitty,” stems from the instrumental demo originally sent to Manson in the early writing stages.
A bold new chapter for Garbage
Following the critical acclaim of their 2021 album No Gods No Masters, described by The New York Times as a “thrumming mix of goth and orchestral pop”, Garbage’s new album promises to be equally urgent, emotional, and uncompromising.
Reuniting all four original members, Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig, the band brings three decades of creative fire to Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, a record that seeks out flickers of hope amid global turmoil.
