Garth Brooks’ historic return to the UK

Garth Brooks is not just a country superstar, he is the best-selling solo artist in US history. Certified by the RIAA with over 162 million albums sold, he has 20 Billboard Number One singles and remains the only artist to score Top 5 country radio hits across five consecutive decades.

His UK return is a milestone moment. Brooks’ last British performance was at London’s Wembley Arena in 1998. Since then, his career has expanded into stadium tours, Las Vegas residencies and historic crowd-breaking shows, cementing his reputation as one of the most influential live performers of all time.

How Garth Brooks changed country music

Brooks redefined country music in the 1990s by blending Nashville storytelling with pop and rock production. His breakthrough albums No Fences (1990) and Ropin’ the Wind (1991) became multi-platinum smashes, with the latter becoming the first country album to top the US pop charts.

His signature songs, including If Tomorrow Never Comes, The Dance, Friends in Low Places and The River, are now staples of the modern American songbook. Brooks’ live shows also reshaped the industry, turning country concerts into stadium-sized spectacles with record attendances. His 1997 Central Park concert drew more than one million fans, and his 2022 Stadium Tour concluded with five sold-out nights at Dublin’s Croke Park, attended by over 400,000 people.

Recognition and legacy

Over his career, Brooks has been honoured with seven CMA Entertainer of the Year awards, multiple RIAA Diamond certifications, and the Kennedy Center Honor. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.
