Jennifer Lopez had a very public wardrobe malfunction during her concert in Warsaw, but turned it into a moment fans won’t forget.
Performing at PGE Narodowy stadium in Poland on Friday 26 July, Lopez was mid-costume change when her gold sequin fringe skirt slipped off unexpectedly, leaving her standing in just her underwear.
“Oh! I’m out here in my underwear. That’s gonna be everywhere,” she told the crowd, laughing as she tried to reattach the skirt without success.
Rather than panic, Lopez leaned into the chaos, tossed the skirt into the crowd, and shrugged it off with a joke.
“I’m glad that they reinforced that costume. And I’m glad I had underwear on. I don’t usually wear underwear,” she added, grinning.
The mishap happened just as her dancers and band surprised her onstage with a birthday tribute. Lopez turned 55 on 24 July and had just emerged from a backstage change when the malfunction occurred.
A fan who caught the skirt received an unexpected souvenir.
“You can have it. I don’t want it back. You can have it, forever and ever,” Lopez told them from the stage.
Despite the disruption, the moment was met with laughter and cheers, with footage quickly circulating online. Fans praised her poise, humour and professionalism, especially given the scale of the event.
Later in the show, Lopez took a moment to reflect on her journey and thank her team, crew and audience for their continued support.
“Surrounded by my incredible dancers, my band, my crew, everybody – I am so blessed,” she said.
“I don’t usually give advice to anybody because I feel like we’re all on our own specific journey. But if I had one little piece of advice for you, it would be to do what you love, find what you love, do it, and do it with people that you love. Then you will have the most amazing life. I want you to feel free to love, free to be who you are, free to follow your dreams.”
The show in Warsaw was part of Lopez’s This Is Me… Now tour, supporting her latest album and the accompanying film of the same name. The concert marked one of her largest European dates this summer.
