Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker dropped an unexpected bombshell at Barcelona’s Nitsa Club over the weekend — a brand-new Tame Impala track that no one saw coming.
The surprise DJ set followed the final night of Primavera Sound 2025 on Saturday 7 June, where festivalgoers thought the music had ended. Instead, they were treated to a rare after-hours appearance by Parker, who decided to test out a never-before-heard track live in the club.
“Er, you guys wanna hear a new song?” he asked the crowd.
“You want to hear a new Tame Impala song? You’re going to be the first ones to hear it, you realise. There’s no going back from this point on. Alright, let’s do it. Get comfortable.”
The untitled track leans into Parker’s signature psych-pop atmosphere but with a heavier, club-focused beat.
No official release date or title has been confirmed for the new song.
What’s Next For Tame Impala?
The last full-length Tame Impala album, The Slow Rush, was released in 2020. Since then, Parker has remained active in the studio and behind the scenes, collaborating with artists like Rihanna, Gorillaz, Mark Ronson, and even Sir Mick Jagger.
In 2023, Parker signed a global publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing, handing over his full catalogue, past and future, to the label.
“The idea of passing on ownership of my songs is one that I don’t think about very lightly at all,” Parker said at the time.
“They are the fruit of my blood, sweat and creativity over all the years I’ve been a recording artist and songwriter so far.”
“I don’t think my songs could be in any safer hands than Sony’s, and I’m excited for the future and happy I can keep working with them on whatever the future brings.”
Whether the new track is a one-off or part of a larger project remains unclear, but fans at Primavera got a first taste of what could be Tame Impala’s next big move.
