Lana Del Rey Responds To Criticism Over Dublin Concert: “Wrong Take On The Angle”

Lana Del Rey has fired back at a negative review of her recent Dublin concert, where questions were raised over the short setlist, high ticket prices and the choice of material.

The criticism came after her 80-minute show at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, part of her 2024 U.K. and Ireland tour. Writing for The Irish Times, journalist Ed Power questioned whether the show delivered value for money.

“Of the 14 songs Del Rey performs, five are from her unreleased new country album and another two are covers. Which would be fine if Del Rey were playing an intimate venue. But given the effort involved in getting to the Aviva and the ticket prices — you won’t get in the door for less than €100 — the gig, at a trim 80 minutes or so, raises the question of where artistic expression ends and doing right by your fans begins…”

Fans split on stadium setlist

The show in Dublin was part of a brief run of large-scale dates that kicked off in Cardiff on 23 June and ended with two nights at Wembley Stadium in London. While some fans praised the shows for their intimacy and atmospheric visuals, others noted the limited setlist length compared to other stadium-level artists.

“Ooh I think this is the wrong take on the angle for the story.” – Lana Del Rey responds.

Del Rey artist didn’t elaborate further, leaving fans and critics to debate the intent behind her remark.

Across the tour, Del Rey has been performing tracks from her upcoming 10th studio album, recently renamed from Lasso to The Right Person Will Stay. Several of these new songs made it into the Dublin setlist, even though the album remains unreleased and still has no confirmed release date.

The decision to spotlight unreleased material and country-inspired arrangements has sparked debate among long-time fans. Some welcomed the direction, while others expected a more career-spanning stadium set that leaned into her biggest hits.

A bigger question around stadium expectations?

While Lana Del Rey’s shows tend to defy traditional expectations around audience interaction and hit-heavy performances, the Irish Times piece taps into a growing conversation about what stadium ticket prices should guarantee.

For now, Del Rey is keeping her response brief, but her fans and critics are doing plenty of talking for her.
