Madonna could share at least eight unreleased songs recorded during the sessions for Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II, as producer Stuart Price has hinted that tracks left off the album may eventually be released.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Price suggested the songs could still find an audience, describing the project as an ongoing creative era rather than a single album release.
Stuart Price Hints At More Confessions II Music
Price remained coy about the possibility of releasing the unreleased material, but said good songs can find their way to listeners at the right time.
“You just never know, do you? The best thing about good songs is they never die.
They just find a way to present themselves at the right time. And yes, I’m being cryptic, but that’s because I think that we still love this continuum idea that Confessions is really an extended moment of time that has different elements to the performance of it.”
The comments leave open the possibility that Madonna could revisit the additional recordings as part of the wider Confessions II project.
Madonna’s Confessions II Looks Beyond The Original Album
Price also pushed back against the idea that the new record is simply a nostalgic return to Madonna’s 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor.
“Confessions One is 2005, and I think looking back only gets you so far. So really you have to come up with a new spin on what that is, and I think that this is a record that defiantly looks forward.
If Confessions One is really about dancing as freedom, Confessions II is much more about confrontation and acceptance … It suggests the idea of vulnerability as strength …
Confession is associated with shame. But Confessions II for us, it reframes that idea as actually power and strength and the courage to … the, you know, daring to share as well.”
His comments suggest that the sequel explores different emotional themes while retaining a connection to the original album’s creative identity.
Madonna And Daughter Lourdes Leon Collaborate On The Test
Confessions II also features “The Test”, a duet between Madonna and her daughter Lourdes Leon, also known as Lola.
The 29-year-old recently discussed the collaboration in an interview with Bob the Drag Queen, recorded in June and broadcast on iHeartRadio LIVE in September. She explained that making music together offered a way to express feelings that can be difficult to discuss in a mother-daughter relationship.
“It was my idea. I think that between a mother and a daughter in a relationship … there’s a lot of things that are unspoken.
There’s a lot of love that is unspoken, but also a lot of tension and emotions that are difficult to put into words.
A way that I thought would be easier for us to speak about these things would be maybe through art, which is always something that my mom and I have connected over.”
Lourdes described the songwriting process as deeply emotional, while saying the experience of recording the track was magical.
“There were moments in the writing process when we were in the studio I felt like crying, where I felt like hugging her.”
With at least eight additional songs reportedly left over from the album sessions, Price’s comments have raised the possibility of more music emerging from Madonna’s Confessions II era. However, no release plans for the unreleased tracks have been confirmed.
