J-pop trio Mrs. Green Apple has officially entered streaming history, becoming the first group in the genre to surpass 10 billion total streams in Japan, according to Billboard Japan.
Led by vocalist Motoki Omori, guitarist Hiroto Wakai and keyboardist Ryoka Fujisawa, the Tokyo-based band now has 25 songs with over 100 million streams, including fan favourites like Ao to Natsu, Tenbyou no Uta (featuring Sonoko Inoue), Dance Hall and Lilac. The latter recently became the third-fastest song in Japanese chart history to pass 600 million streams.
Anniversary album and 100,000 fans expected in Yokohama
To mark their 10th anniversary, Mrs. Green Apple will release a best-of compilation album titled 10 on 8 July 2025. The release coincides with the date of their official debut and comes ahead of a major headline event: MGA Magical 10 Years Anniversary Live – Fjord, set for 26 and 27 July at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama. Across both dates, the open-air shows are expected to draw 100,000 fans.
2025 Dome Tour set to attract over half a million fans
Their next chapter will include the band’s biggest domestic tour to date. Titled Mrs. Green Apple Dome Tour 2025 “Babel no Toh”, the arena run will hit five dome venues across Japan from October to December, with a projected audience of 550,000 people.
The group’s recent commercial success goes far beyond streaming milestones. Mrs. Green Apple topped three of Billboard Japan’s flagship charts:
- Japan Hot 100 (all-genre singles chart)
- Hot Albums
- Artist 100, which aggregates song and album performance
In a recent interview with Billboard Japan, frontman Omori expressed his gratitude to the fans and emphasised the importance of their live shows.
“I think the best way to experience the latest Mrs. Green Apple is at one of our live shows, so I hope everyone will enjoy our energy to the fullest. I want to express my gratitude directly to the people who support us so much. Everything is going to be fun, so I really hope people will enjoy it from the bottom of their hearts without hesitation.”
