Muse have announced their 10th studio album The WOW! Signal, revealing the project with a high altitude launch that sent their new music into the edge of space.
Frontman Matt Bellamy and the band partnered with Sent Into Space to send a tablet 33km above Earth, where the album announcement and video for new single Be With You were unveiled.
The album is set for release on 26 June 2026 and follows 2022’s Will Of The People.
Album inspired by cosmic themes and “existential hope”
The WOW! Signal is described by the band as exploring themes of cosmic mystery, existential hope and the possibility of contact beyond Earth.
The record will also include Unravelling, which marked Muse’s first new music in three years when it was released in 2025.
Space launch used to premiere new single
The band’s latest single Be With You was revealed as part of the space launch, with the device carrying the video into the upper atmosphere before transmitting the content back to Earth.
The stunt aligns with Muse’s long running fascination with science, space and futurism, themes that have shaped much of their recent work.
Band considered slower release schedule
The announcement follows earlier comments from bassist Chris Wolstenholme, who said the band were reassessing how frequently they release albums.
Speaking on The Leona Graham Podcast, he explained that longer gaps between projects allow the band to reset creatively.
“I don’t think we can be banging out new albums every two years like we used to.”
“But it gives you that opportunity to reset a little bit and think about what’s gonna happen going forward.”
Despite those comments, Muse moved faster than expected, bringing forward the release of their tenth album.
Staying with Warner for album ten
The band will release The WOW! Signal through Warner Music Group, continuing a long standing relationship with the label.
During the band’s recent downtime, Wolstenholme also worked on material with his side project Chromes.
