Breakout star Myles Smith has revealed hopes for a future collaboration with global hitmaker Ed Sheeran after what’s been a career-defining year.
Fresh off his win at the Ivor Novello Awards and the runaway success of his single Stargazing, Myles Smith is continuing his meteoric rise by supporting Ed Sheeran on tour — and hinting at a potential studio session with the chart-topping singer-songwriter.
Speaking backstage at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool on Saturday (May 24), Myles reflected on the surreal experience of joining Sheeran on his upcoming stadium dates.
“Playing stadiums for the first time. It’s pretty nuts; but I’m really excited for the challenge,” he told Contact Music.
When asked whether the pair were planning to collaborate, Myles replied:
“Not at the moment, no. But he is a great friend, so hopefully in the future.”
Myles Smith Reacts to Being Named on Time 100 List
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter also opened up about being named on Time’s 100 Most Influential People list — alongside global icons like Serena Williams and Mark Zuckerberg.
“That one caught me off guard. I never imagined I’d end up in it. It’s mad,” he told the BBC.
“I think I just felt really grateful, you know? To be recognised on that level for doing something I love.”
‘Stargazing’ Surpasses One Billion Streams
Smith’s breakout single Stargazing has now amassed over one billion global streams, becoming the UK’s biggest song of 2024. Its emotional depth and heartfelt lyrics have struck a chord with fans worldwide.
“You always hope people connect with a song, but ‘Stargazing’ just seemed to take on a life of its own,” Myles said.
“I think it’s the honesty in it — everyone’s either been through heartbreak or held on to hope when they probably shouldn’t have. It’s simple, but it’s real. And I think people felt that.”
