Paul McCartney is fuelling speculation about a major Got Back Tour in 2025, just as he announces a new book about his post-Beatles band Wings.
The Beatles icon has hinted at fresh tour dates after posting an Instagram Story on 9 July that featured a photo of two guitar picks. One carried his name, the other read simply:
“Got Back in 2025.”
The post also included a link encouraging fans to join his official mailing list for updates on future live shows.
Got Back Tour: What we know so far
The original Got Back Tour kicked off in 2022 with a run of shows across the United States, followed by South America and Australia. In 2023, McCartney returned to home turf with a limited run of UK dates.
More recently, in February 2025, he played a series of intimate shows at New York’s Bowery Ballroom, sparking renewed interest in what’s next for the 82-year-old performer.
There has been no official announcement yet, but fans are reading the tea leaves. With guitar pick clues and a mailing list call-to-action, McCartney seems to be gearing up for another live outing.
Wings: New book revisits life after The Beatles
Alongside the possible tour news, McCartney has revealed details of a new book revisiting his time with Wings. Titled Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, the book is co-authored with historian and speechwriter Ted Widmer and is scheduled for release in November 2025.
The memoir dives into McCartney’s journey from Beatles fame into the uncertain terrain of forming a new band in the early 1970s.
“Starting from scratch after the Beatles felt crazy at times. There were some very difficult moments and I often questioned my decision,” McCartney says in the book. “But as we got better I thought, ‘OK, this is really good.’ We proved Wings could be a really good band.”
Formed in 1971 with his wife Linda McCartney, drummer Denny Seiwell and guitarist Denny Laine, Wings released seven studio albums, including Band on the Run, Venus and Mars, and London Town.
“Wings was about love, family, friendship and artistic growth, often in the face of tremendous adversity,” said co-author Ted Widmer.
Is 2025 the Year of McCartney?
Between the hinted return to the stage and the deep dive into his post-Beatles legacy, 2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Paul McCartney. Whether or not a full-scale world tour is on the cards, the signs are pointing to something major.
