Richard Ashcroft Claims He’s The Only Artist Who Could Open For Oasis On 2025 Reunion Tour

Richard Ashcroft has declared that he’s the only artist fit to support Oasis on their blockbuster 2025 reunion tour — and Noel Gallagher apparently agreed.

With Oasis reuniting for their first tour in over a decade, the Oasis Live ’25 Tour is already breaking records with sell-out stadium dates across the UK and Ireland. Joining them as a very special guest is The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, whose musical history with the band goes back to the early ’90s.

Speaking on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, Ashcroft said:

“I’ve got a very important part to play in this. I said to Noel: ‘I think I’m the only person who could go in this slot… unless you’ve got something to offer, I don’t know what’s gonna happen.’”

A Legendary History: From Supporting Each Other to Sharing the Stage

Ashcroft’s relationship with Oasis predates their massive debut Definitely Maybe. Oasis once supported The Verve in 1993, and the two bands criss-crossed venues like Earls Court and The Bataclan during Britpop’s golden era. Ashcroft even contributed vocals to Oasis’s 1997 hit All Around the World from their album Be Here Now.

“I’ve been there almost the whole story together with them, right from day one,” Ashcroft recalled. “We were both bands in vans playing to 300 people, saying: ‘We’re gonna do this.’ And then we actually did.”

Cast Confirmed as Additional Support for Oasis Live ’25

Alongside Ashcroft, fellow Britpop icons Cast will also join the tour, which kicks off in Cardiff on 4 July 2025. The tour promises to be one of the biggest musical moments of the decade, with fans eager to relive Oasis classics like Wonderwall, Live Forever, and Champagne Supernova.
