Rod Stewart has cancelled more concerts after undergoing a routine coronary stent procedure, with doctors advising the 81-year-old singer to stay off the road for four weeks while he recovers. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame star had previously cancelled shows in Cincinnati and Cleveland after announcing an “unforeseen but minor medical procedure”.

Stewart has now confirmed that he underwent a coronary stent procedure and is recovering well. A stent is a small tube inserted into a narrowed or blocked artery to help keep it open.
In a statement provided to Billboard, Stewart’s representatives said doctors were pleased with his recovery.
“Following further medical evaluation, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure.”
The statement added that Stewart has already returned to his normal daily activities but has been advised to take four weeks away from performing.
“Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities. On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.”

The recovery period means Stewart will step away from upcoming dates on his North American One Last Time Tour, as well as performances connected to his Encore Shows residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The cancellations follow the postponement of consecutive performances in Cincinnati and Cleveland earlier this week. At the time, Stewart’s team described the reason as an “unforeseen but minor medical procedure”.
The latest announcement provides more detail about the procedure and confirms that Stewart will not return to the stage until he has completed the four-week recovery period recommended by his doctors.
