Sam Fender is reportedly in line to headline Glastonbury Festival 2027, with the singer said to be celebrating the prospect of securing one of the biggest slots in British live music. The claim has not been officially confirmed by the festival, which is expected to announce its full line-up in spring 2027.
According to a report in the Mail on Sunday, Fender has been so excited about the news that he has even shared it with his neighbours. If confirmed, the Pyramid Stage booking would mark a major milestone for the 32-year-old musician.
Sam is over the moon, it’s a major milestone in his career and he’s so excited he’s even been telling his neighbours.
The quote was attributed to an unnamed source speaking to the newspaper. Glastonbury has yet to publicly identify its 2027 headliners.
Lewis Capaldi Reportedly Backing Sam Fender For Glastonbury
Fender’s close friend Lewis Capaldi is also said to have supported his bid for the headline slot. According to another source quoted in the report, Capaldi has brought Fender on stage during his own gigs, helping introduce him to wider audiences.
Lewis has been gunning for Sam to get the headline slot. He’s been bringing Sam on stage at his gigs just to get him more out there and more talked-about.
Neither artist nor Glastonbury organisers have confirmed the reported booking.
Fender has already played the festival’s Pyramid Stage. He performed there in 2022, having withdrawn from the event at short notice in 2019 because of illness.
Glastonbury 2027 Tickets Sell Out In 42 Minutes
The reports come after tickets for Glastonbury 2027 sold out in just 42 minutes when they went on sale on Sunday 4 October 2026. The festival has a capacity of approximately 210,000 people.
Organisers thanked those who secured tickets and acknowledged the many fans who missed out.
Thank you to everyone who bought one and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out on a morning where demand greatly exceeded supply.
The festival also confirmed that returned or cancelled tickets would be made available through a resale in spring 2027.
There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in Spring 2027.
Fans who missed the initial sale will therefore have another opportunity to try for tickets, although availability will depend on how many are returned.
Oasis Ruled Out As Glastonbury 2027 Headliners
Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has already dismissed speculation that Oasis will headline the 2027 festival, despite the band’s anticipated touring activity that year.
Responding to a social media user asking whether the Gallagher brothers would appear at Worthy Farm, Eavis replied:
Sorry Jimmy, not this time.
She also addressed rumours about Madonna headlining, confirming in August that all three headline acts had been booked while rejecting the suggestion that the pop star was among them.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, Eavis said:
No, it’s definitely not Madonna, I’ll tell you that. But we have got three headliners and we’re very excited about it – it’s all coming together really well.
She also cautioned fans against treating unconfirmed reports as fact.
Pretty much 95 per cent of the stories [about Glastonbury] you read are not true, and rumours are pretty much always wrong. But the good news is that we’ve got our headliners and we’re cracking on, and we just can’t wait to get back.
Her comments confirm that the festival has secured its three headline acts, but they do not establish whether Fender is among them.
Could Lily Allen Also Play Glastonbury Next Year?
Sam Fender is not the only British artist linked to a possible Glastonbury appearance in 2027. A separate report last month claimed that Lily Allen had been invited to perform by Eavis following the success of her 2025 album West End Girl.
A source quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column said Eavis was keen to bring Allen back to the festival.
Emily loves Lily and sees her as one of Britain’s musical greats.
The source added:
Earlier this summer she officially asked Lily if she would play at Glastonbury next year.
The report suggested Allen’s participation would depend on her schedule. Neither her appearance nor Fender’s reported headline slot has been officially confirmed.
For now, Glastonbury 2027’s headline line-up remains under wraps. With tickets already sold out and organisers saying their three headline acts are booked, the next major announcement is expected to come in spring.
