65,000 fans witnessed a night of timeless classics, surprise guests and soul-stirring messages as Stevie Wonder returned to London for a sold-out Hyde Park show
Stevie Wonder brought his “Love, Light and Song” UK tour to London’s BST Hyde Park on Saturday 12 July, delivering a sold-out set that moved between joy, reflection and celebration. The Motown legend performed to a crowd of 65,000, marking his second appearance at the central London festival.
Wearing a white tunic embroidered with portraits of John Lennon and Marvin Gaye, Wonder opened the show with Love’s In Need of Love Today, setting a tone of empathy and resilience. That was followed by a moving cover of Lennon’s Imagine, sung with understated power and met with quiet awe.
From there, the hits came thick and fast. Master Blaster (Jammin’), Higher Ground and You Are the Sunshine of My Life kept the momentum high, while the crowd joined in for a rendition of You Are My Sunshine. Wonder was later joined on stage by Corinne Bailey Rae for a special take on Sly and the Family Stone’s Everybody Is a Star.
He also took a moment to honour his family, dedicating Happy Birthday to his daughter Zaiah Morris, who turned 13, and welcoming his son Kailand Morris to the stage. As the summer sun dipped behind the trees, Wonder delivered Sir Duke, Isn’t She Lovely and I Just Called To Say I Love You, before ending the show with a powerful three-song encore: Superstition, Always and Another Star.
BST Hyde Park continues to make its mark as one of London’s defining summer music events. Wonder used his London stage for a very clear message:
“We’ve been through the hate, but love is far bigger.”
