Taylor Swift has celebrated the chart success of her single Opalite, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The track appears on her twelfth studio album The Life of a Showgirl and follows the earlier single The Fate of Ophelia in topping the chart. Taylor shared the news with fans on Instagram.
Shortly after the chart update, Taylor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for the track with producers Max Martin and Shellback, along with clips from the music video shoot.
“Just a few Opalite memories to celebrate the Hot 100 #1 you guys just got this song!!”
“I can’t even sum up my excitement and I’m so blown away by the love you’ve shown this song and video.”
Chart milestone for Taylor
The singer noted that the achievement marks her 14th No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She also pointed out that it is the first time she has had two No. 1 singles from the same album cycle since the release of 1989 in 2014.
“I know that’s a lot of numbers but it all adds up to me being so thankful to the fans who helped make this happen by welcoming this song into your lives with open arms. Seriously bouncing off the walls about this!!”
Taylor ended the post with another note of thanks to listeners.
“Just wanted to say THANK YOU, might go buy a giant pretzel at the mall to celebrate, iykyk (if you know, you know).”
Inside the ‘Opalite’ music video
The music video for Opalite was shot on film and features Taylor alongside Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson. The story follows two isolated characters who connect after using a fictional “Opalite” potion.
The cast also includes Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi, and TV presenter Graham Norton, with a cameo appearance from Cillian Murphy. All of them had previously appeared together on an episode of The Graham Norton Show in October.
