Shakira has officially revealed her new FIFA World Cup song, Dai Dai, ahead of the 2026 tournament taking place across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The Colombian pop star teased the track on Instagram with a video filmed inside Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The single, which also features Burna Boy, is set for release on 14 May.
Shakira returns to the World Cup stage
The new release marks Shakira’s second official World Cup anthem after Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) became one of the defining songs of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
The track went on to become a global hit and remains closely associated with the tournament more than a decade later.
Shakira also contributed La La La (Brazil 2014) as a theme song for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, later performing it during the closing ceremony in Rio.
Before that, she delivered a performance of Hips Don’t Lie during the 2006 World Cup closing ceremony in Germany.
Burna Boy joins global football soundtrack
The addition of Burna Boy continues FIFA’s recent trend of pairing global pop artists from different regions and genres for tournament music releases.
While only a short teaser has been released so far, the preview hints at a rhythm-driven stadium anthem blending Latin pop and Afrobeats influences.
World Cup 2026 will be biggest tournament yet
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first to feature 48 national teams and will run from 11 June to 19 July across North America.
FIFA is expected to heavily centre music and live entertainment around the expanded tournament, following the global success of previous World Cup songs.
Shakira’s involvement also continues her long association with football culture. She shares two sons with former FC Barcelona and Spain national football team defender Gerard Piqué.
Meanwhile, Colombia national football team are among the countries set to compete in the tournament.
Waka Waka remains one of football’s biggest songs
Few World Cup tracks have matched the lasting cultural impact of Waka Waka, which became one of the most commercially successful football songs ever released.
With Dai Dai, Shakira now returns to a stage that has helped define several eras of both her career and modern tournament pop culture.
