Kylie Minogue Confirms She Is Not On Madonna’s Confessions II Album

Kylie and Madonna

Kylie Minogue has shut down rumours that she appears on Madonna’s upcoming album Confessions II.

Speculation around a possible collaboration between the two pop icons had been building online for weeks, particularly following renewed attention around Madonna’s long-awaited follow-up to 2005’s Confessions On A Dance Floor.

However, Kylie confirmed she is not part of the project during a new interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Kylie Minogue responds to Madonna collaboration rumours

Addressing the reports directly, Kylie said:

“That’s a random thing.”

“There was a rumour I was on her album, but I’m not.”

Despite denying involvement, Minogue said she is still looking forward to hearing the album when it arrives on 3 July.

“I’m excited to hear it all!”

Kylie previously said she would “obviously” collaborate with Madonna

Although the pair have never officially recorded together, Kylie has previously made it clear she would welcome the opportunity.

Speaking to People magazine following her surprise appearance during Madonna’s Celebration Tour in Los Angeles in March 2024, Kylie said:

“Obviously I would [collaborate with Madonna].”

“So, there’s been no discussion, but if it were to happen, that would be great.”

The performance at the Kia Forum marked the first time the two stars had performed together publicly.

Madonna and Kylie shared stage during Celebration Tour

During the show, Madonna introduced Kylie to the crowd before the pair performed I Will Survive and Kylie’s global hit Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.

Reflecting on the moment afterwards, Kylie described the appearance as emotional and overdue.

“That was an incredible night and an incredible moment.”

“A lot of people had been waiting a long time, probably including us, but I thought that was just perfect.”

She added:

“It wasn’t a big choreography. It was just two performers, two women, two people that, without having to say much, you can understand some of each other’s journeys.”

“[We wanted] to lift each other up and celebrate each other.”

Madonna also praised Kylie during the performance, calling it a “privilege” to share the stage with her.

“Now this is what we call a survivor, okay?”

“It’s a privilege for me to be up here singing with you.”

“You are a fighter, too. God bless you. Never give up. You never did.”

Confessions II arrives nearly 20 years after original album

Confessions II is expected to arrive almost two decades after Confessions On A Dance Floor, the dance-pop album that produced hits including Hung Up and Sorry.

The original record remains one of Madonna’s most commercially successful later-career albums and has become a major influence on modern electronic pop releases.
