Rod Stewart has postponed his concert in Niagara Falls, Canada, after a mechanical fault prevented him from travelling to the venue just hours before the show was due to begin.
The 81-year-old singer announced on Tuesday that his performance at Fallsview Casino Resort would no longer go ahead after the aircraft carrying him suffered a landing gear problem. The concert has been rescheduled for 4 March 2027.
Rod Stewart issues last-minute concert update
Stewart shared the news with fans via his Instagram Stories, explaining why the performance had to be postponed.
“Important information about tonight’s show. Due to a mechanical fault with the aircraft’s landing gear, Rod Stewart is regretfully unable to travel to Niagara Falls and must postpone tonight’s performance at Fallsview Casino Resort.”
The statement added:
“Rod is deeply disappointed and apologises to fans for the inconvenience.”
Fans who purchased tickets will not need to buy new ones, as all existing tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date.
The announcement concluded:
“He looks forward to returning for the rescheduled performance on Thursday, March 4, 2027 where he promises to make it up to his fans.”
Part of the One Last Time tour
The Niagara Falls date forms part of Stewart’s One Last Time tour, which the rock icon has described as his final large-scale global arena tour.
Despite winding down his arena touring schedule, Stewart has previously said he intends to continue performing live in other formats.
Latest setback follows recent health issues
The postponement comes only weeks after Stewart was forced to cancel a show at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, California, after being diagnosed with an acute upper respiratory infection that led to laryngitis.
The cancellation sparked criticism after the Maggie May singer was later seen attending a FIFA World Cup match on the same day.
Speaking afterwards on talkSPORT, Stewart admitted the timing was unfortunate.
“It wasn’t a good look, I admit, but I’m going to have to just take the stick.”
He explained that he did not want to disappoint two of his sons by missing the match.
Earlier this year, Stewart also cancelled two performances while recovering from a sinus infection.
