Roxy Music will revisit their landmark second album For Your Pleasure with a major expanded reissue featuring previously unheard demos, home recordings, studio outtakes and rare live performances. The new edition will be released on 6 November 2026, more than 50 years after the original album arrived in March 1973.
The reissue offers a detailed look at how Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera, Andy Mackay, Brian Eno and Paul Thompson developed the album that established Roxy Music as one of Britain’s most adventurous art-rock bands.
Roxy Music’s For Your Pleasure gets expanded reissue
Originally released on 23 March 1973, For Your Pleasure followed Roxy Music’s self-titled debut and expanded the band’s experimental approach.
The 2026 reissue digs deep into the album’s development, including songwriting sketches, rehearsals, studio recordings and live performances that have not previously been commercially released.
Ferry has explained that the pressure of making a second album changed his approach to songwriting after Roxy Music’s debut attracted an audience.
“It was a good pressure. Realising, now there’s an audience to write for. An intelligent audience. I felt a responsibility for the work that I hadn’t for the first album, certainly with regard to the lyrics.”
The album would go on to feature some of Roxy Music’s best-known early material, including “In Every Dream Home A Heartache”, “Editions Of You” and the title track.
Bryan Ferry wrote For Your Pleasure in a Derbyshire cottage
Ferry has revealed that he left London for a remote cottage in Derbyshire while working on the album’s songs.
The isolation allowed him to concentrate on the material that would become For Your Pleasure.
“I was completely alone out there, and just really focused on writing this stuff. I remember sheets of paper all over the floor, working on things like In Every Dream Home A Heartache and Editions Of You. Those few days in that cottage were crucial to the making of For Your Pleasure.”
Some of the recordings made during this period have survived on fragile cassette tapes.
Those home recordings, made both at the Derbyshire cottage and Ferry’s London flat, will now be released as part of the expanded edition.
Lost Roxy Music demos and rare recordings revealed
One of the previously unheard recordings already available from the set is “Grey Lagoons – 1971 Demo”.
The early demo features Ferry alongside Andy Mackay, Brian Eno, Graham Simpson and Roger Bunn, offering an insight into Roxy Music’s development before For Your Pleasure was recorded.
The reissue also includes two additional previously unheard versions of the material, an AIR Studios outtake and a live recording from Montreux in 1973.
The Super Deluxe Edition expands the archive considerably, with 20 previously unheard songwriting sketches, rehearsals and studio outtakes, alongside 14 previously unreleased live and instrumental recordings.
For Your Pleasure Super Deluxe Edition details
The expanded For Your Pleasure will be available in several formats, including 2LP, 2CD and Blu-ray editions, with Dolby Atmos also included in the new release programme.
The most extensive version is a 3CD + 1DVD Super Deluxe Edition, which includes:
- 20 previously unheard songwriting sketches, rehearsals and studio outtakes
- 14 previously unreleased live and instrumental recordings
- A 116-page book featuring rare photographs, lyric notes and archive material
- Expanded material documenting the creation and release of For Your Pleasure
The range of formats gives fans the option of a straightforward vinyl or CD edition, while the Super Deluxe Edition provides the most extensive collection of archival material.

The reissue also revisits the striking visual identity associated with For Your Pleasure.
Nick de Ville, who helped develop Roxy Music’s distinctive artwork and visual presentation, recalled the original album photography featuring Bryan Ferry and Amanda Lear.
“Bryan in chauffeur’s uniform, Amanda Lear as femme fatale, a Cadillac de Ville, and an empty car showroom in Marylebone. Good pros (and inspired amateurs) always see their way through, and so it was on this shoot.”
The imagery became an important part of Roxy Music’s identity during the early 1970s, complementing the band’s deliberately unconventional approach to music and fashion.
