London has celebrated a record-breaking summer of live music, with millions of fans attending concerts and festivals across the capital as Mayor Sadiq Khan hailed the city’s position as the music capital of the world.
Major artists including Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, Jay-Z, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, Luke Combs, Take That and Metallica have drawn huge crowds to London’s stadiums, arenas and parks throughout the summer.
The scale of the capital’s live music economy is reflected in the latest figures. London’s music scene attracted 9.1 million visitors in 2025, generating £3.4 billion in revenue, an increase of more than 27 per cent year on year.
London’s biggest venues record huge crowds
Wembley Stadium experienced its busiest summer of music to date, with more than 2.5 million people attending 34 concert dates.
Harry Styles was among the biggest draws, with his record 12-date run at the stadium. The shows alone have been predicted to contribute £1.1 billion to the London economy.
The Weeknd and Luke Combs were also among the artists performing at Wembley during the record-breaking summer.
The O2 also recorded its busiest August ever, hosting 16 sold-out shows. The programme included Ariana Grande, who recently concluded her Eternal Sunshine tour at the venue, as well as K-pop girl group KATSEYE making their first UK concert appearances.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium welcomed more than 500,000 concertgoers, with performances from BTS, Bad Bunny and Jay-Z among the major events held at the north London venue.
London Stadium attracted more than 350,000 fans across an eight-day period for concerts by Take That and Metallica.
Meanwhile, BST Hyde Park welcomed country superstar Garth Brooks for his first UK show in almost 30 years.
Festivals and grassroots venues add to London’s music boom
The summer success extended beyond the capital’s biggest stadiums and arenas.
Brockwell Live attracted more than 140,000 people, while Palace Bowl Presents drew around 100,000 fans. Alexandra Palace also welcomed more than 28,000 spectators across two nights featuring The Streets.
London’s grassroots venues continued to play an important role in the capital’s live music ecosystem. The Music Venue Trust reported a 2.3 per cent increase in audience numbers across London’s 189 grassroots venues compared with 2025.
The figures highlight the breadth of London’s music industry, from global stadium tours and major festivals to emerging artists performing in smaller venues.
Sadiq Khan praises London’s music industry
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said the summer had demonstrated the strength of the capital’s music scene and its wider economic contribution.
“It has been another incredible summer for our capital’s music scene, showing once again why we are the best in the world.”
He added:
“With record-breaking stadium runs, parks and arenas welcoming tens of thousands of people a night and crowds filling up grassroots music-venues, this summer has had it all.”
Khan also pointed to London’s unique position as an international music destination.
“I’m proud that no other city in the world can boast such an incredible line-up and it’s why our music industry’s impact on our economy continues to grow, as we build a better London for everyone.”
Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, said the summer programme had offered opportunities for audiences and artists at every level.
“Our capital’s music scene has served up something for every taste this summer.”
She continued:
“Across London music fans have taken in everything from international artists selling out stadiums to the next big star performing on one of our legendary grassroots music venues for the first ever time.”
Simons added:
“This summer has truly illustrated music’s incredible power to bring people together and why there is no better place to enjoy it than in London.”
London’s autumn music calendar
The momentum is set to continue into the autumn, with more major concerts and new music venues scheduled across the capital.
Diljit Dosanjh is due to perform at Wembley Stadium, while K-pop group BIGBANG will headline Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
London will also welcome the UK launch of the Blue Note jazz club in Covent Garden, adding another major name to the capital’s increasingly diverse live music landscape.
