Brian Eno And Beatie Wolfe Announce New Album ‘Liminal’ To Complete Their Sonic Trilogy

Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe have confirmed the release of Liminal, the third and final instalment in their trilogy of experimental sound worlds. The album arrives on 10 October 2025, rounding out a project that has already delivered Lateral and Luminal earlier this year.

Eno and Wolfe describe Liminal as “Dark Matter music,” a stark contrast to the earlier records. Luminal was pitched as “dream music” and Lateral as “space music,” but this new chapter pushes deeper into uncharted territory.

To preview the record, the duo have shared a two-track single, pairing the vocal-led “The Last To Know” with the atmospheric instrumental “Ringing Ocean.” Both tracks are designed to give listeners a sense of the new soundscape that bridges the first two releases.

Liminal stands at the point of convergence between Lateral and Luminal. If Lateral is a kind of landscape painting, a sonic place, Luminal is a dream-like awakening, a feeling space. Liminal, the newest addition, is a hybrid of the two, a strange new land with a human living and feeling its way through its mysterious spaces,” said Eno and Wolfe in a joint statement.

The pair added:

Liminal is set in the borderlands between song and non-song (or ‘nong’ as we call it), where the listener is exploring an intimate and unfamiliar new sonic world, as yet unclaimed, and still ambiguous.

Fans will be able to buy Liminal in a range of eco-conscious formats, including a webstore-exclusive eco-friendly CD, black biovinyl, and a translucent rose biovinyl edition. A digital release will also be available worldwide.
