Addison Rae has officially stepped into the pop spotlight with the release of her highly anticipated debut album.
The 24-year-old TikTok star turned singer dropped her self-titled LP this week, featuring singles Diet Pepsi and Aquamarine. The album leans heavily into dreamy pop textures and raw emotion, with Addison describing it as a reflection of her own “sensual and sexual” identity.
“I’m a very sensual and sexual person. I’m very intimate with myself and my body, and everything kind of reflects that,” she told Variety. “Everything feels very personal.”
Addison didn’t draw from any specific musical references when creating the album. Instead, she focused on chasing a feeling and a sound that felt entirely hers.
One standout feature of the project is its all-female production team. The album was made in collaboration with Luka Kloser and Elvira, a move Addison said felt natural but rare.
“I have something really special with these girls. It feels really beautiful and magical that it is just all females,” she said. “I never set out for it to be that way. You almost don’t get that opportunity very much.”
Addison’s album announcement was classic Rae: bold, cheeky, and headline-grabbing. She revealed the release date at Coachella by having it printed on her underwear; a moment fans were quick to share across social media.
Despite being hailed by some as pop’s new “It girl,” Addison isn’t getting ahead of herself.
“It is obviously very complimentary,” she said. “What does that even mean, really, to be the pop girl? Let’s see if the songs get more popular, then they can call me a pop girl. This is my shot. I’ve got to go big.”
The Louisiana native has always had her sights set on a performance career. Long before her first single Obsessed dropped in 2023, she had dreams of acting and making music. But it was TikTok that gave her the platform to make it all happen.
“When TikTok happened, I was almost like, well, this seems like a really nice way to get myself to Los Angeles,” she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “In Louisiana there wasn’t as much opportunity… unless you just got really, really lucky.”
Since blowing up in 2019 for her dance videos, Addison Rae has steadily moved from social media personality to recording artist and actor.
