Billie Eilish has shut down viral AI-generated images falsely showing her at the 2025 Met Gala, calling out the “fake” content and reminding fans she was performing in Europe at the time.
The Grammy-winning singer, 23, was noticeably absent from this year’s “Tailored for You”–themed event at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, but that didn’t stop artificial intelligence from stirring up controversy online.
Shortly after the event, realistic AI-manipulated photos of Billie wearing an extravagant gown began circulating on social media — prompting some fans to comment harshly on the imagined outfit.
Billie Eilish Responds: “That’s AI. I Wasn’t Even There!”
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Billie set the record straight in a video — ice cream in hand — and directly addressed the backlash from confused followers.
“Seeing people talk about what I wore to this year’s Met Gala ‘being trash.’ I wasn’t there!” she said. “That’s AI. I had a show in Europe that night.”
She continued:
“Let me be! I wasn’t even there!”
Billie was in Amsterdam during the event, performing two sold-out shows at the Ziggo Dome on May 4 and 5 as part of her ongoing international tour.
Met Gala AI Madness: Katy Perry Also Targeted By Fake Photos
Billie Eilish isn’t the only celebrity calling out deepfake-style images.
Katy Perry also addressed fake Met Gala photos circulating online, confirming she was not in attendance.
“Couldn’t make it to the MET, I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL),” Katy posted, adding:
“P.S. This year I was actually with my mom, so she’s safe from the bots — but I’m praying for the rest of y’all.”
