Jack Harlow Announces New Album Monica, Inspired By Move To New York

Jack Harlow has confirmed that his fourth studio album, Monica, will be released on 13 March. The announcement comes as the Louisville rapper reveals the record was shaped by a year of writing and recording in New York, following his recent move to the city.

The album was largely developed at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village, one of New York’s most storied recording spaces. Built by Jimi Hendrix, the studio has hosted landmark sessions for artists including David Bowie, Patti Smith, Kanye West and Beyoncé.

A Change Of City, A Shift In Perspective

Harlow has spoken openly about how relocating influenced his writing process and sense of self. In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, he explained how new surroundings unlocked something creatively.

“When I move somewhere new, I start seeing myself differently. It shakes something loose. That’s when the songs start coming.”

That shift appears central to Monica, which Harlow has described as more personal and grounded than his earlier work.

“Peeling Back Another Layer”

Although the full tracklist and collaborator details have not yet been announced, Harlow has previously framed his albums as part of an ongoing process of self-exploration. Speaking to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in 2022, he said:

“I’m always trying to get closer to who I really am on these records. Every album is me peeling back another layer.”

That approach aligns with what he has hinted fans can expect from Monica, a project shaped by introspection as much as geography.

Release Details And Recent Music

Vinyl pre-orders for Monica are now available, marking the first physical formats confirmed ahead of the March release.

The new album follows Jackman, which arrived in 2023. Since then, Harlow has continued to release standalone material, including the single Set You Free last February, along with Hello Miss Johnson and Tranquility in 2024.
