Noah Kahan to release new album The Great Divide in April

Noah Kahan has announced his fourth studio album, The Great Divide, set for release on 24 April 2026. The first single from the record will drop on Friday 30 January 2026. The 29-year-old singer-songwriter follows up his 2022 breakthrough album Stick Season.

Exploring themes of connection and self-reflection

Kahan shared the inspiration behind the album on Instagram, highlighting personal and geographical influences.

“From a long silence forms a divide, a great expanse demanding attention. I stare across it. I see old friends, my father, my mother, my siblings, my younger self, the great state of Vermont.
I want to scream these feelings, to gesticulate wildly at the figures on the other side, but my voice has grown hoarse and muted after years of climbing a ladder towards the wild, spiralling dreams that have materialised in front of me.”

The singer described how he wrote the songs across multiple locations, from Nashville to Vermont and Tennessee.

“The songs are the words I would say if I could. They are the fears I dance with in the moments before I drift off to sleep. The music here is my best attempt to delve deeper into the people, places, and feelings that have made me who I am. I am grateful for all of it, for all of you, for listening to them, if you choose to do so.”

Stick Season and Kahan’s playful take on “snooze fest” fans

The album follows the success of Stick Season, whose title track became a commercial hit. Kahan has addressed jokes about his music being “boring” on social media, saying he takes it as a compliment.

“When people call my music a snooze fest I take it as a compliment because to me going to an actual snoozing festival sounds fun and restful.”

He also joked about fans sleeping during his live shows:

“Everyone there just sleeping side by side refreshed and ready to go after my two hours are up.”
