Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have matched one of the longest-standing records in British chart history, with their collaboration Rein Me In equalling the longest run at Number 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart.
The single has now spent 18 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Official Singles Chart, drawing level with Frankie Laine’s I Believe, which has held the record since 1953.

By reaching an 18th non-consecutive week at Number 1, Rein Me In joins I Believe as the longest-running UK Number 1 single in Official Charts history.
Frankie Laine’s I Believe first topped the chart in 1953, setting a record that has stood for more than seven decades. Sam Fender and Olivia Dean are now just one more week away from becoming the outright holders of the record.
Record could be broken next week
If Rein Me In remains at Number 1 for another week, it will become the longest-running UK Number 1 single in the history of the Official Singles Chart.
Fans will get the first indication of whether the song is on course to extend its record-breaking run when the Official Chart: First Look airs on BBC Radio 1 on Sunday 26 July 2026.
