Shania Twain Marks 60th Birthday With Candid Throwback Photo And Heartfelt Message

Shania Twain has celebrated her 60th birthday by sharing a nostalgic glimpse into her early years as a performer.

On Thursday (29 August), the Canadian country-pop icon posted a throwback photo on Instagram from the 1980s, showing herself in her twenties preparing for a performance. In the picture, she is captured styling her hair while dressed in a sparkling blue and silver suit.

“Happy birthday to me! How can I be 60?” Twain wrote. “So glad to have kept some photos from this time in the ’80s when I had no idea what was ahead of me and Shania f**king Twain didn’t exist yet.”

Alongside the vintage snap, Twain also uploaded a new black-and-white photo where she appears in a crisp white shirt and black briefs, offering fans a look at her present-day style.

The You’re Still the One star also reflected on her career and thanked her supporters as she enters her seventh decade.

“I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am for the life that I have. For my family, friends, fans and the inspiration I get from all of you,” she added. “I’ve tried to stay true to myself along the way and that’s my intention moving forward into the next chapter.”

Celebrity friends joined fans in celebrating Twain’s milestone, with actress and singer Rita Wilson commenting, “Happy Birthday!!!! Here’s to many more! Thank you for the music and for being you!!!”

Twain, one of the best-selling female artists in country music history, continues to perform and record. Her most recent album Queen of Me was released in 2023, marking her sixth studio record and a reminder of her ongoing influence on both pop and country music.
