Stevie Nicks made her first-ever appearance at the Met Gala on 4 May 2026, ending decades of absence from fashion’s biggest night. The Fleetwood Mac vocalist arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a custom look designed by John Galliano for Zara.
The 77-year-old singer’s appearance quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the night, aligning with the 2026 exhibition theme “Costume Art” and dress code “Fashion Is Art.”
Signature style meets Met Gala theme
Nicks wore a midnight-blue silk taffeta gown with a dramatic crinoline silhouette, paired with a velvet jacket. The look featured an embroidered overlay skirt in black tulle, detailed with appliqué flowers, creating a structured yet flowing shape on the Met steps.
True to her long-established aesthetic, she completed the outfit with a black top hat, designed in collaboration with milliner Stephen Jones, featuring a feather detail.
Tiffany & Co. jewellery completes the look
According to Vogue, Nicks accessorised with jewellery from Tiffany & Co., including diamond earrings, rings and a statement necklace from the Blue Book collection. The crystal opal pendant was set in platinum and yellow gold, with opals and diamonds.
A rare fashion appearance for a rock icon
Despite a career spanning more than five decades, Nicks had never previously attended the Met Gala. Her debut reflects her enduring influence as a style figure, known for her bohemian and gothic-inspired stage wardrobe.
A fan reaction circulating on X captured the mood online:
“Everybody bow down to the white witch.”
A consistent visual identity across decades
Nicks’ Met Gala look echoed the visual identity she established early in her career. Speaking previously about her stage style, she described sketching her now-signature look before her first Fleetwood Mac tour:
“I drew a stick girl in this little outfit. It was a little handkerchief skirt, little platform boots, sleeves that dropped almost to the ground and that was it,”
She added:
“It’s never going to get old,”
“It’s just going to get more beautiful and sophisticated … it’s basically what I still wear now.”
