The majority of Tina Turner’s music catalogue and her name, image and likeness rights have been acquired by Pophouse Entertainment in a new deal with BMG.
The agreement, announced on 19 March 2026, sees the Swedish entertainment company take a majority stake in Turner’s “music interests,” while BMG retains a share of the catalogue. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Turner, widely known as the Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll, died in May 2023 at the age of 83 after a career spanning decades and more than 150 million records sold worldwide.
Pophouse takes control of catalogue and image rights
As part of the transaction, Pophouse has also acquired Turner’s name, image and likeness (NIL) rights, giving the company control over how her legacy is developed across future projects.
Johan Lagerlöf, managing partner and head of investments at Pophouse, said the focus will be on preserving and expanding Turner’s legacy.
“We are incredibly proud to be entrusted with helping celebrate and develop Tina Turner’s extraordinary legacy.”
“Tina Turner is not only one of the greatest artists of all time, but a force of nature whose impact extends far beyond music.”
“We look forward to developing new and exciting projects that respectfully carry her legacy forward for generations to come.”
BMG to remain involved alongside Turner estate
While Pophouse becomes the majority owner, BMG will continue to hold a stake in the catalogue and work alongside Turner’s estate.
Alistair Norbury, president of BMG UK, Continental Europe and APAC, said:
“Tina Turner’s voice and spirit shaped modern music and popular culture.”
“Our responsibility, alongside Pophouse and the Estate, is to ensure her work continues to resonate with audiences around the world, while remaining true to the strength, independence and originality that defined her career.”
BMG confirmed that Turner’s estate was not a direct negotiating party but was involved in discussions around the deal.
New projects planned following acquisition
Pophouse CEO Jessica Koravos said the company is already developing new projects based on Turner’s life and work.
“I am thrilled to welcome Tina Turner’s iconic catalogue to the Pophouse family.”
“We will now set in motion a series of creative projects to celebrate Tina Turner’s remarkable music and persona and secure her legacy as the Queen of Rock n’ Roll.”
Pophouse expands catalogue acquisitions
Founded in 2014 by Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA and investor Conni Jonsson, Pophouse has built a reputation for combining music rights ownership with immersive entertainment projects.
The company is best known for developing ABBA Voyage, the London based concert residency featuring digital avatars of ABBA.
Pophouse has also made major moves in catalogue acquisitions. In 2024, KISS sold their catalogue, brand name and intellectual property rights to the company in a deal reportedly worth more than $300 million.
The digital avatar technology used in these projects has been developed in collaboration with Industrial Light & Magic, the visual effects company founded by George Lucas.
A legacy that continues to evolve
Turner’s catalogue includes global hits such as What’s Love Got to Do With It, The Best and Proud Mary, alongside a career that earned 12 Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, and two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
With this latest deal, her music and image rights now sit at the centre of a growing trend where major catalogues are being acquired and reimagined through new formats, from film and television to live immersive experiences.
