Fleetwood Mac’s enduring appeal in the US shows no sign of fading, with the band’s Greatest Hits compilation reaching its 400th week on the Billboard 200.
The milestone makes Greatest Hits only the second Fleetwood Mac album to spend at least 400 weeks on Billboard’s flagship albums chart. The other is Rumours, which has accumulated an extraordinary 698 weeks and is closing in on the 700-week mark.
Greatest Hits currently sits at No. 18 on the Billboard 200, slipping five places from its previous position. That previous No. 13 ranking was the compilation’s highest-ever position on the chart, achieved more than three decades after its original release.
The Billboard 200 ranks the most-consumed albums and EPs in the US, combining traditional album sales with streaming activity. Fleetwood Mac’s continued presence reflects the remarkable longevity of the group’s catalogue, with its best-known songs continuing to attract substantial streaming and sales activity decades after their release.
The band now has three albums with at least 100 weeks on the Billboard 200. Their self-titled 1975 album has spent 170 weeks on the chart and reached No. 1 in 1976, where it remained for one week.
Rumours continues its remarkable run
While Greatest Hits has reached the 400-week milestone, Rumours remains in a different league when it comes to chart longevity.
The 1977 classic has now spent 698 weeks on the Billboard 200. Barring an unexpected interruption, it should join the small group of albums to reach 700 weeks on the chart within the coming weeks.
The album remains a strong performer across physical and streaming formats, appearing alongside Greatest Hits on several Billboard charts this week.
Rumours ranks No. 135 on the Billboard 200, No. 17 on Vinyl Albums, No. 28 on Top Album Sales and No. 37 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums.
Greatest Hits remains a major chart presence
The compilation is performing strongly beyond the Billboard 200, appearing in the top 20 on six different Billboard charts this week.
It ranks:
- No. 4 on Top Rock Albums
- No. 6 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums
- No. 11 on Vinyl Albums
- No. 17 on Top Streaming Albums
- No. 18 on the Billboard 200
- No. 19 on Top Album Sales
The compilation has slipped on five of those six charts this week, although it holds its position at No. 17 on Top Streaming Albums, matching its highest-ever ranking there.
The figures underline something unusual about Fleetwood Mac’s catalogue. Rather than relying on a single legacy album, the group continues to generate significant consumption across several releases and formats.
With Greatest Hits now at 400 weeks and Rumours approaching 700, Fleetwood Mac continues to occupy an unusually prominent position on the US charts more than 50 years after the band’s formation.
