ABBA have confirmed that their groundbreaking ABBA Voyage concert experience has now welcomed four million visitors, marking a major milestone for the long-running London production.
The virtual concert, which features digital “ABBAtars” of Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, has been running at the purpose-built ABBA Arena in East London since its launch in 2022.
Four million fans attend ABBA Voyage in London
The group acknowledged the achievement in a statement, crediting fans from around the world for the show’s continued success.
“Reaching four million visitors is an incredible milestone for ABBA Voyage, and a testament to the fans who have travelled from across the world to be a part of this experience.”
“From those visiting for the first time to the many who return again and again, it’s their energy and passion that bring the concert to life every night.”
“To see audiences continue to embrace the concert and the joy of our music is truly special, and it’s been incredible to watch the concert become a global phenomenon.”
The show blends cutting-edge motion capture and visual effects with a live band, recreating ABBA’s classic performances for modern audiences while introducing their catalogue to younger fans.
Björn Ulvaeus says success exceeded expectations
Speaking previously to NME in 2023, Björn Ulvaeus said the scale of the show’s success had gone far beyond expectations.
“It’s amazing – it has surpassed any dream I could have ever had.”
“We’ve somehow reached new generations by some miracle. I don’t know how, but there you are. (The 2008 movie) Mamma Mia, I suppose played a role in that. There are new generations coming along.”
The continued popularity of ABBA Voyage reflects the band’s enduring global appeal, driven in part by renewed interest following the success of Mamma Mia!.
Future plans for ABBA Voyage beyond London
Ulvaeus has also indicated that the production could expand internationally, with discussions already underway for new locations.
“We hope to stay in this venue for as long as we can. We hope they’ll have us for many years, and we might build other replicas of this in other places: Asia, Australia, North America. There are lots and promoters and cities that we’re talking to at the moment about that.”
“Each one would take at least two years to build, but there will be announcements towards the end of this year or the beginning of next about where we actually are going. That’s if we’re going somewhere, which we will.”
For now, ABBA Voyage remains one of London’s most in-demand live experiences, combining nostalgia with new technology in a way few music productions have achieved at this scale.
