Sabrina Carpenter and Stevie Nicks teamed up for a surprise live duet at the Met Gala on May 4, 2026, delivering one of the standout moments of the night inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The performance took place in front of the Temple of Dendur following the gala dinner, continuing the event’s tradition of high-profile live sets tied to its 2026 theme, “Costume Art.”

Sabrina Carpenter headlines with live set

Carpenter opened the evening’s performance segment with a set featuring her recent hits House Tour, Espresso and Please, Please, Please. Backed by a five-piece orchestra, a four-piece band and four dancers, the set was staged for invited guests inside the museum, according to Vogue.

She wore two outfits during the performance. The first was a multicoloured Versace Tribute dress featuring prints of Marilyn Monroe and James Dean by Andy Warhol. She later changed into a gold fringe dress by Bob Mackie.

Stevie Nicks joins for Fleetwood Mac classics

Following a short interlude from stage actor Joshua Henry, who performed I Sing the Body Electric by Walt Whitman, Nicks took to the stage to close the show.

She opened with Landslide, joined by Carpenter for the duet. Nicks then performed Gypsy and Edge of Seventeen solo before bringing Carpenter back for a final duet of Don’t Stop, originally released in 1977.

Follows recent high-profile collaborations

The Met Gala appearance continues a run of major live collaborations for Carpenter. Weeks earlier, she brought out Madonna during her Coachella headline set for performances of Vogue and Like A Prayer.

Fashion moments on the Met steps

Earlier in the evening, Carpenter arrived on the Met Gala carpet in a custom Dior dress constructed from film strips of the 1954 Sabrina starring Audrey Hepburn.

Nicks, attending the Met Gala for the first time, wore a midnight blue gown designed by John Galliano for Zara, complete with her signature top hat.

Continuing Met Gala performance tradition

The 2026 performance follows recent years of major musical appearances at the event, including Stevie Wonder and Usher in 2025, and Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in 2024.

With Carpenter and Nicks sharing the stage, the 2026 Met Gala delivered a rare cross-generational collaboration, combining contemporary pop with one of rock’s most recognisable voices.
