Deep Purple Announce New Album SPLAT! With July 2026 Release Date

Ian Gillan

Deep Purple have confirmed their new studio album SPLAT! will be released on 3 July 2026, marking the latest chapter in a career that spans more than five decades and over 120 million records sold worldwide.

The album arrives as the band prepares for an extensive global tour, with 86 shows planned across 28 countries.

New album aims to recapture classic era energy

Frontman Ian Gillan said the current line-up is tapping into the same creative energy that defined the band’s most celebrated period in the early 1970s.

“Where we are now with this incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a very ‘now’ version of Deep Purple as it was in the seventies.”

He added:

“I have to say, now we are very much back in with material that is compatible with Highway Star, Smoke on the Water, Lazy – the dynamics, the balance, and the fun of the music we made from ‘69 to ‘73.”

Produced by Bob Ezrin, recorded live in studio

SPLAT! sees the band reunite with producer Bob Ezrin, known for his work with Pink Floyd, KISS, Alice Cooper and Lou Reed.

The record was captured with the band playing together live in the studio, a process they say contributes to its heavier sound and dynamic feel.

Concept explores transformation, not destruction

At the core of the album is a concept developed by Gillan, focusing on the end of humanity as a transformation rather than an apocalypse. Further details around the narrative are expected ahead of release.
