British singer-songwriter Maisie Peters has secured her second consecutive UK Number 1 album after Florescence narrowly beat Michael Jackson on this week’s Official Albums Chart.
The Official Albums Chart dated 29 May sees Peters’ third studio album, Florescence, claim the top spot by just over 250 chart units ahead of The Essential Michael Jackson, one of the closest chart battles of the year.
The achievement gives the Brighton-born artist back-to-back Number 1 albums following the success of her 2023 release, The Good Witch, which also debuted at the summit of the UK charts.
“I’m really proud of myself and for the team, everyone worked really hard. Michael Jackson tried, but he couldn’t come up against the real M-dog!”
Florescence gives Maisie Peters another chart triumph
The strong opening week for Florescence highlights Peters’ growing commercial appeal and dedicated fanbase. The album not only topped the Official Albums Chart but also claimed Number 1 on both the Official Vinyl Chart and the Official Record Store Chart, underlining strong support from physical music buyers.
The record features collaborations with Marcus Mumford and Julia Michaels, adding further weight to what has become one of the most successful releases of Peters’ career to date.
Biggest headline shows still to come for Maisie Peters
Peters’ chart success arrives ahead of a landmark period in her live career.
Later this year, the singer will headline London’s The O2, marking the biggest standalone show of her career so far. She is also scheduled to appear at Reading & Leeds Festival in August, where she will perform alongside some of the biggest names in contemporary music.
With two consecutive Number 1 albums now to her name, Peters continues to establish herself as one of the UK’s most successful singer-songwriters of her generation.
