Kylie Minogue has confirmed plans for a major 40th anniversary tour in 2027 as she prepares to celebrate four decades in pop music.

The singer, who first launched her recording career in 1987 with a cover of The Loco-Motion while starring in Neighbours, revealed the news during an interview with The Sunday TimesStyle magazine.

Asked directly whether she planned to tour to mark the milestone anniversary, Minogue replied:

“I’m probably not meant to say this, but yes, I am.”

Kylie Minogue says she no longer hesitates to message artists she admires

Elsewhere in the interview, she discussed the music currently inspiring her and admitted she is far more confident about reaching out to artists she enjoys listening to.

Among the names she mentioned was rising artist Sombr.

“Sombr. I sent him a message or maybe he sent me a message, I don’t know.”

“I put him on one of my playlists for some promo I was doing. I’m no longer shy to send a message to someone when I want them to know they are amazing.”

Minogue also revealed her wider musical tastes stretch beyond pop.

“Otherwise I love yacht rock [soft rock], indie folk.”

She also praised Wolf Alice and longtime friends Coldplay.

“I love Wolf Alice, and the last big show I saw was Coldplay, always Coldplay. I will go to every show they ever do.”

Kylie wants to return to acting and musicals

Minogue also said she hopes to revisit acting in the future, particularly through musical theatre or film projects.

“I would love to do a musical, to act again, to be in the hands of a director who can get me there.”

Minogue originally rose to fame as actress Charlene Robinson on Neighbours before becoming one of the world’s biggest pop stars across the late 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

Netflix documentary series Kylie is on the way

The singer is also preparing for the release of a new three-part Netflix documentary series titled Kylie.

According to Minogue, producer John Battsek encouraged her to create a new original song for the project, something she described as unexpectedly difficult.

“You realise the importance of the song at the end.”

“I worked so hard on it, it was like rolling a rock up a hill.”

“I spent so many solitary hours, working, working, working.”

Kylie admits she feels nervous about sharing her story

Minogue also spoke candidly about the emotional side of releasing a documentary focused on her life and career.

“I have such a knot of excitement and nerves.”

“There was so much to get through. How the hell do you tell the story?”

She explained that despite receiving documentary offers for years, this is the first time she has agreed to fully open up on camera.

“I’ve been asked by so many people to do a documentary in the past, but I’ve never done anything like this before.”

Minogue added that she is curious about how the documentary may change public perceptions of her.

“Will I live differently, will people relate to me differently? Some people will never have heard of me.”

Kylie Minogue’s legacy continues to grow

Over the past four decades, Minogue has become one of the defining figures in global pop music, with hits spanning multiple eras including Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, Spinning Around and Padam Padam.

Her recent resurgence following the viral success of Padam Padam introduced her to a new generation of fans and helped cement her continued relevance across streaming, touring and pop culture.

The upcoming 40th anniversary tour is expected to become one of the most anticipated nostalgia and legacy pop tours of 2027.
