Spice Girls Glastonbury Dream Still Alive As Mel C Calls Reunion “Electric”

Mel C of Spice Girls

Spice Girls are still aiming for a future performance at Glastonbury Festival, with Melanie C saying the group’s chemistry remains strong and that a Pyramid Stage set would be “the pinnacle”.

Speaking on Pop Idols for Magic Radio with former publicist Nicki Chapman, the singer reflected on the band’s legacy, their evolving identities, and the possibility of returning together for one of the world’s biggest live stages.

Mel C on spice girls chemistry and reunion hopes

Melanie C said the connection between all five members remains unchanged decades after their rise to global fame.

“There’s something about the dynamic of the Spice Girls — when we’re in a room together it’s electric. It still happens to this day… there is something magical about those five personalities.”

The group, which also includes Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Melanie Brown and Victoria Beckham, last toured together in 2019, although Beckham did not take part in that run.

Glastonbury Pyramid Stage remains a goal

Melanie C described Glastonbury as a long-standing ambition for the group, suggesting the iconic Pyramid Stage remains firmly on their radar.

“Glastonbury would be the pinnacle, it’s a bucket list. Spice Girls, Pyramid Stage — I like to think that will happen at some point. I’m very strongly manifesting that it will happen.”

Despite years of speculation, the group has never performed at Glastonbury, making it one of the few major milestones still missing from their live career.

Reflecting on fame, pressure and identity

Looking back at the height of Spice Girls fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Melanie C acknowledged the intense scrutiny they faced, describing it as a difficult period for anyone in the public eye.

She also spoke about trying to step away from her “Sporty Spice” image as she pursued a solo career, adjusting her look and sound in an effort to be seen independently of the group.

“Everything you do is semi-apologetic because everybody wants the Spice Girls.”

She said it was not until the 2019 reunion tour that she fully embraced her identity across both her solo work and group legacy.

Solo work and new projects

Alongside her reflections on the past, Melanie C is preparing to release her upcoming solo album Sweat and continues to build her profile as a DJ, which she says has changed how she connects with music and live audiences.
