Taylor Swift has broken two Spotify records for 2026 following the release of The Life Of A Showgirl: The Encore.
The expanded edition of Swift’s 2025 album arrived on 25 September 2026 with four new songs: “Patient Zero”, “Cleveland!”, “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon”.
“Patient Zero” has become the most-streamed song by a female artist in a single day on Spotify in 2026, while Swift recorded the biggest single-day total for a female artist on the platform this year.

Swift wrote the four new tracks with Max Martin and Shellback during a trip to Sweden to celebrate the success of The Life Of A Showgirl.
The singer explained that the songs were created after the pair of producers and Swift returned to the studio simply to celebrate the album’s response.
“Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs.”
Swift said the new material was created from her appreciation for the response to the original album.
“I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made.”
The four tracks expand The Life Of A Showgirl beyond its original 12-song tracklist, with “Patient Zero” serving as the lead single from The Encore.
“Cleveland!” references Travis Kelce
One of the most personal additions is “Cleveland!”, which directly references Swift’s husband Travis Kelce and his connection to Cleveland, Ohio.
Kelce, who plays tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, was born in Westlake, Ohio, and attended Cleveland Heights High School.
In the song, Swift describes Kelce as the person who accepts her completely and calls him the “love of my life”. She also references being taken to Cleveland and visiting The Heights.
The track is Swift’s first new music since she married Kelce in July.

“Patient Zero” focuses on Swift offering support to a woman dealing with the aftermath of a difficult relationship. The song has prompted online discussion about whether its storyline could reference Swift’s friendship with Sophie Turner following Turner’s 2023 separation from Joe Jonas.
The connection remains fan speculation, however, and Swift has not confirmed that the song is about Turner.
“Pink Clouding” takes a more reflective approach, with Swift looking back on a relationship with regret and apologising for the way she treated a former partner.
“Babylon” similarly looks back on a relationship through the lens of hindsight, reflecting on how the significance of something can become clearer after it has ended.
Together, the four songs add a more relationship-focused chapter to The Life Of A Showgirl, while “Cleveland!” provides the clearest connection to Swift’s current life with Kelce.

The new Spotify milestones add to Swift’s long run of streaming records.
The Life Of A Showgirl itself set major Spotify benchmarks following its original release in October 2025, while the expanded edition has now given Swift another set of records to add to her catalogue.
“Patient Zero” is also arriving at a significant moment in Swift’s current era. She is due to premiere its music video at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday 27 September, with Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell starring alongside her.
Swift directed the video, which was shot by Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki.
She will also receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at the ceremony, recognising her work as a director of music videos and visual projects.
