Kylie Minogue returned to her hometown of Melbourne on Saturday 26 September 2026 to headline the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment at the 2026 Toyota AFL Grand Final, performing for more than 100,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The pop star delivered a custom 20-minute set featuring new arrangements, choreography and staging, with the production ranking among the largest entertainment shows staged at an Australian sporting event.

Minogue was joined by several Australian artists during the performance, including G Flip, William Barton and Dom Dolla.

G Flip joined Minogue on electric guitar for “Padam Padam”, while multi-instrumentalist William Barton performed a melodic interpretation of “Confide In Me”.

Dom Dolla brought a new club-focused mix of “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” to the Grand Final stage.

The performance was directed musically by Steve Anderson and choreographed by Ashley Wallen, with Minogue wearing custom designs from long-time collaborators Dolce & Gabbana.

The wardrobe drew on three decades of the designer relationship between Minogue and the Italian fashion house.

Hundreds of dancers join Kylie on stage

The scale of the production extended well beyond the main stage.

Minogue performed alongside 40 core stage dancers and 16 performers from Sydney Dance Company, led by artistic director Rafael Bonachela.

A further 100 Melbourne dance students joined the performance of “The Loco-Motion”, including a student from Minogue’s former school, Camberwell High, who appeared as Young Kylie.

Australian comedy duo The Inspired Unemployed also made a surprise appearance during the sequence.

The pre-game entertainment opened with a video featuring Minogue reciting lyrics from Mike Brady’s Australian football anthem “One Day in September”, which was incorporated into her song “Light Up”.

Behind the performance was a team of around 300 technical and staging professionals working across production, choreography and event operations.

The show was produced in partnership with the AFL, Minogue’s management team and Mushroom Group.

The Grand Final appearance capped a week of Kylie Minogue activity across Melbourne as the city prepared for the AFL’s biggest annual event.

A 13-storey mural featuring the pop star appeared near Flinders Street Station, while a local ST. ALi coffee pop-up and official merchandise stores formed part of the Grand Final Footy Fest celebrations.

For Minogue, the performance marked a return to the city where her career began, with more than 100,000 fans watching her headline one of Australia’s biggest sporting occasions.
