Jung Kook Shares ‘Regrets’ Over BTS Album ARIRANG Despite Billboard Success

Jung Kook of BTS

Jung Kook has opened up about his role in BTS’ latest album ARIRANG, admitting he still has “regrets” about the creative process despite the record’s global success.

The comments come from an interview published by Rolling Stone on April 20, as the album continues its strong chart run.

Jung Kook reflects on songwriting contributions

Jung Kook co-wrote four tracks on the album, contributing to “Alien,” “FYA,” “2.0” and “Hooligan,” all of which have charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

Reflecting on the experience, he said:

“I don’t know if I would call it pride?”

“But I did feel really great.”

However, the singer also questioned whether he could have done more during the writing process.

“It’s been a long time since we chose the songs and everything, but there’s one thing I still think about, which is: Why didn’t I do a little more?”

“Two months is a really long time. Couldn’t I have done more?”

“I have a lot of regrets about that.”

‘ARIRANG’ tops Billboard 200

Despite those reflections, ARIRANG has been a major commercial success. The album is currently in its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking a significant milestone for the group.

It is also BTS’s first full-length group album since 2020, adding to the scale of its global impact.

Inside the making of ‘Hooligan’

Jung Kook also discussed the creation of “Hooligan,” describing how quickly the track came together.

“came up with the flow immediately”

“got to work”

After the group selected the song for inclusion on the album, he added:

“felt awesome … that rocked.”

Global tour supports comeback

BTS are currently on a global stadium tour in support of ARIRANG, reinforcing their return as a full group and extending the album’s reach across international markets.
