Duffy has announced her first live performance in more than 15 years, marking a major milestone in the singer’s return to music following a lengthy absence from public life.

The Welsh star revealed on social media that she will perform an intimate concert in London on 5 July, where she is expected to debut new material for a limited audience of fans.

The performance will be her first live appearance since stepping away from the music industry at the height of her success in the late 2000s.

Duffy’s return follows years away from the spotlight

Duffy became one of the biggest breakthrough artists of 2008 with the release of her debut album, Rockferry, and its global hit single Mercy.

The album became the UK’s best-selling record of the year and helped establish the singer as one of British music’s most successful new artists.

Her rapid rise brought major industry recognition, including a Grammy Award, an Ivor Novello Award and three BRIT Awards.

However, after releasing her second album, Endlessly, in 2010, Duffy largely disappeared from public view, prompting years of speculation about her absence.

Singer revealed traumatic experiences in 2020

In 2020, Duffy publicly explained the reasons behind her withdrawal from the music industry.

In a personal statement shared with fans, she disclosed that she had experienced a serious traumatic ordeal involving kidnapping, drugging and sexual assault.

The singer explained that the experience and its aftermath had profoundly affected her wellbeing and required years away from public life as she focused on recovery.

While Duffy has occasionally shared updates since then, she has largely remained out of the spotlight.

New music and Disney+ documentary reportedly in development

The newly announced London performance appears to be part of a broader creative comeback.

According to reports, Duffy is also working on new music and has been spending time in the recording studio ahead of her return to live audiences.

The BBC has additionally reported that the singer is involved in a forthcoming documentary project with Disney+, which is expected to explore aspects of her life and experiences in greater depth.

Ahead of the July concert announcement, Duffy shared a photograph from a recording studio and told fans she had missed them, fuelling speculation that new music was on the way.
