Madonna turned New York City’s Times Square into an impromptu dance floor on Thursday, delivering a surprise live performance to celebrate Pride Month and build anticipation for her upcoming album, Confessions II.
The Queen of Pop took to a specially constructed stage in the heart of Manhattan, drawing crowds of fans and curious onlookers as she unveiled music from the highly anticipated project, due for release on 3 July.

The surprise appearance began with Madonna removing a pink veil before launching into her latest single, I Feel So Free. Longtime collaborator Stuart Price, who also worked on the original Confessions on a Dance Floor album, served as DJ throughout the performance.
Addressing the crowd, Madonna reflected on identity and self-expression.
“Thanks for coming… creating a persona… I can be whoever I want to be.”
Dressed in a lilac corset-style outfit paired with knee-high silver boots, the pop icon continued the set with performances of Bring Your Love and Love Sensation.
At one point, she greeted the audience with a familiar declaration.
“Are you ready, it’s Mother.”
Classic Confessions tracks return to the setlist
The short but energetic performance also featured songs closely associated with one of Madonna’s most celebrated eras.
Fans were treated to live renditions of Get Together and I Love New York, both originally released on her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor.
She closed the set with Hung Up, one of the defining dance-pop hits of the 2000s, prompting a strong reaction from the packed crowd gathered around Times Square.
Before leaving the stage, Madonna offered a message to fans celebrating Pride Month.
“Thank you, New York City, I love you! Happy Pride!”
Confessions II arrives in July
The surprise concert comes just weeks before the release of Confessions II, Madonna‘s new studio album, which arrives on 3 July.
The project reunites her with producer Stuart Price, whose work on Confessions on a Dance Floor helped shape one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed albums of her career.
In a recent Instagram post, Madonna described the new record as both a celebration of dance music and the communities that surround it.
“Confessions II is a love letter to dance music and to all the spaces and communities that create it or enjoy it.”
“The dance floor isn’t about a specific space or building, it’s wherever we gather to dance, celebrate and connect. Thank you for being apart of this moment and for supporting my music.”
