Morgan Wallen has sparked debate online after footage appeared to show the country star grabbing a security guard’s mobile phone and throwing it across the stage during a concert in Pittsburgh.
The incident reportedly took place during a stop on Wallen’s Still The Problem Tour, with videos filmed by audience members quickly spreading across social media.
Viral video captures on-stage confrontation
In footage shared online, a security guard standing near the front of the stage appears to be recording Wallen while he performs.
The singer can be seen gesturing towards the phone before walking away. Moments later, he returns, takes the device from the guard’s hand and throws it across the stage.
The clip has generated widespread discussion among fans, with many questioning what prompted Wallen’s reaction. Neither Wallen nor his representatives had publicly commented on the incident at the time of writing.
Incident follows cancelled Pittsburgh show
The phone-throwing controversy comes just days after Wallen addressed criticism surrounding the cancellation of a scheduled concert in Pittsburgh.
The singer was forced to pull the show at short notice, citing safety concerns linked to weather forecasts predicting potentially dangerous winds.
In a video shared on Instagram Stories, Wallen explained the decision.
“This morning, my team walked on the bus and told me they had been consulting with local officials and that I should cancel my show in Pittsburgh tonight, and I said, ‘Why?'”
He continued:
“They said that there was going to be strong winds in the area, and I said, ‘OK.’ So, that is what I did in that moment, and I trusted my team.”
Wallen says safety concerns drove cancellation
According to Wallen, the decision was based on the size and complexity of his touring production.
“I’ve been seeing a lot of nonsense about me that is simply not true, and I just wanted to clear the air.”
He added that his stage setup could pose a serious risk if severe weather developed.
“I have a large stage that could become fatal to people around it.”
The forecasted winds ultimately failed to materialise at the level expected, leading some fans to question whether the cancellation had been necessary.
